Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Sprint and AT&T Galaxy S5 subscribers now available

Starting today, Samsung Galaxy S5 users on AT&T and Sprint network will start receiving latest Android version update, Android 5.0 Lollipop. This will update the company’s current flagship phone from the existing Android 4.4.4 KitKat version.

While most carrier phones in the U.S. has not received the update yet, the Korean electronics giant has already pushed Android 5.0 Lollipop to many of its Galaxy S5 phones around the world. It comes as no surprise as Samsung Galaxy S5 is the company’s flagship phone which ought to receive the update before any other phone from the company’s lineup.

According to sources, the impatient wait of U.S. users whose Galaxy S5 phone is tied to a network will soon come to an end as both AT&T and Sprint is preparing to roll out Lollipop to its users. When the roll-out is done, users will be greeted with the best of Android that Google has to offer right now.

Google detailed on Android Lollipop in its annual I/O conference back in 2014. Initially, the new version was simply called Android L until the company revealed the full name, Lollipop. The new version has already been released for Nexus devices in addition to a number of other smartphones including Motorola’s low-end Moto G and high-end phone Moto X. HTC has also promised the update for its existing and previous flagship phones.

According to the data shown on Android Developer Dashboard, Android 5.0 Lollipop runs on 1.6 percent of all Android phones out there. Google measured the data within a period of seven days ending on February 2. All Android phones that accessed Google Play was measured to come up with the usage statistics.

While Android Lollipop is running on relatively low number of devices at this time, the adoption rate is fast. With U.S. carriers rolling out the big update to its users, it’s only a matter of time until Lollipop overtakes Jelly Bean, which is currently the most used Android version around the world.
