The Sunday Super Bowl audience could expect to see Missy Elliott giving a surprise appearance. According to speculations, the Grammy winner would join Katy Perry during the latter’s performance in the halftime. Although the word of her performance has not been confirmed officially by the NFL, The Associated Press spoke of Elliott’s entry citing an anonymous source. The two had performed together previously in 2011 in one of Perry’s song, called “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
During a news conference on Thursday, Perry had acknowledged that she would be joined by someone during her performance. The singer had referred to the person as an “old school” friend. However, she had not given away the name. Perry had also told the reporters that the surprise visitor would be a female. In addition, the chief performer on the upcoming event had told news reporters that her Super Bowl act will also feature Lenny Kravitz.
Perry has promised her fans of delivering a “wild” performance at the show. She feels blessed to have a chance to perform at the Super Bowl at such an early age. She appreciated the past performances of Beyonce and Madonna at the show and plans to bring her own light-hearted style to the show.
If rumors are to be believed, Perry will be joined by Elliott, who is herself a multiplatinum rapper and singer. She is also a producer at the same time. Elliott had received a Grammy Award for her Solo Rap Performance in “Get Ur Freak On.” She had also received the award in the same category for two more of her rap songs, namely “Work It,” and “Scream a.ka. Itchin’.” The rapper had bagged all the three awards in the early 2000s.
Apart from these established and loved singers, the Super Bowl will also see performances from singer Usher and Slash, the 2011 guitarist of Guns ‘N Roses.
