As per reports, Sony Pictures Entertainment is quite keen to rope Idris Elba as the next James Bond.
The news has been revealed through the recently leaked email communications which happened internally in the Sony House.
Many reports even claim that Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-chairman Amy Pascal is a hardcore Idris Elba fan. In an email which is dated January 4, 2014, she stated that “Idris should be the next Bond”.
Rumors about Elba’s ‘James Bond roping’ have been surfacing all over the internet for the past one year. With Amy Pascal’s support to this idea, the rumors have been now strengthened.
The current James Bond, Daniel Craig has already showed his interest to leave the franchisee.
Daniel Craig had openly expressed his displeasure in portraying James Bond during a 2012 interview conducted by Rolling Stone. He told that he was trying to get out from the franchisee soon after the validation of the agreement.
If the news of Elba’s portrayal as James Bond turns true, then Idris Elba will become the first black actor to portray the British super spy.
The upcoming Bond movie, ‘Spectre’ is all set to hit the screens on November 6, 2015. Daniel Craig is doing the lead role in this movie, and the remaining star cast includes big names like, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fienesse, Monica Bellucci and Dave Bautista.
The film is directed by Sam Mendes. The cinematography is done by Hoyte Van Hoytema
