As the ninth game of the World Chess Championship 2014 between five time champion India’s V Anand and Carlsen gets under way today, Anand finds its increasingly difficult to make a breakthrough into Carlsen’s defence.
The match starts at 5:30 p.m. India time, catch all the action live here. Scroll down to watch the game live.
After the 8th game ended into a tame draw with Anand playing with white pieces, it looks as though Anand is catching up with his age and must retire from chess.
Even though reportedly Carlsen was unwell, he played with amazing brilliance and blazing fast chess, Anand was almost one hour behind Carlsen.
Usually World chess championship games will be intuitive and hard fought. Previous world champions Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, Bobby Fishcer etc have showed immense skills in defending their tittles.
This game is a must win match for Anand. After eight matches he trailer by one point. With only four games to go, Anand needs to find a way and put all his experience into the game and try to force a win against the incumbent 23-years-old Carlsen.
IF in case Anand loses this game, he has to give up claiming the World Chess throne all together and make way for youngsters.
Wish Anand all the best as his fans from across the world look forward for him to strike luck and get into winning mode at the earliest in todays game.
Even when the match was played in India in 2013, Anand didn’t show any fighting spirit in any of the games in Chennai losing the title to Carlsen.
