‘Khoobsurat’ movie review and box-office collection report

Quirky Bollywood rom-com “Khoobsurat” starring Sonam Kapoor in the lead role is releasing across cinemas in India and across the world on September 19, 2014 amidst great promotions.

Loosely based on the 1980 movie with the same name that starred Rekha, “Khoobsurat” tells the story of Sonam Kapoor as Dr. Milli Chakravarty as she enters a royal family where she is the misfit.

The cast of the film includes Pakistani actor Fawad Afzal Khan, Kirron Kher, and Ratna Pathak in the support roles.

“Khoobsurat” remains on the shoulders of Sonam Kapoor who seems to have gone far and wide for the promotions.

Produced by UTV’s Siddharth Roy Kapoor along with Rhea Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, the movie needs to make decent money, mainly for Sonam who’s last movie “Bewakoofiyaan” did not fare well at the box office.

The good thing about the movie is the buzz, which has been positive among the youth.

The songs composed by Sneha Khanwalkar have gained decent momentum. While ‘Engine ki Seeti’ is a folk song tuned for today’s times, the album also includes ‘Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai’ composed by Badshah.

The screen count of “Khoobsurat” is expected to be over 2,000 in India. The movie is expected to do well in the multiplexes than single screens.

If the reviews turn out good, the movie is expected to make decent money over the weekend.

The 1st day collections of “Khoobsurat” should be anywhere between Rs. 5 and Rs. Crore depending on the morning show occupancy.

The movie also gets stiff competition from the other release of the week, “Daawat-e-Ishq”, which stars Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapoor in lead roles.
