Bypolls results in UP, where counting began on September 16,2014, had some serious jolts for the BJP, as the saffron party seemed to retain the Lucknow east assembly seat, while Samajwadi Party seemed to have established 8 sears of the assembly of the 11 under bypolls.
For the trends that came from EC, the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat seems to go to SP’s Tej Pratap Singh, who is leading by 2 lakh votes over Prem Singh Shakya of BJP.
Ashutosh Tandon is bearing the torchnight for BJP and is leading in the Lucknow East, while Bimla Batham from the saffron party is leading from Noida with a margin or 22,000 votes. BJP may also lead Saharanpur, where Rajiv Gunbar is leading by over 5,000 votes.
BJP’s ally Apna Dal had fielded their president Krishna Patel for the Rohinya assembly, where the candidate is trailing by 11,000 votes. BJP’s candidate for the Charkhari, vacated by Uma Bharti, is also trailing behind SP candidate by 36,000 votes.
In Bijnore and Thakurdwara, SP is leading, while for the Nighasan assmebly seat, the ruling party also has taken a lead. The same trend was seen at Balha, where SP candidate is ahead by 11,000 votes.
For BJP, things don’t seem rosy as even the riot torn parts of the state don’t seem to on their side, but the urban centres, as expected, has done better.
While Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav promised to comment after the results were declared, while BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said the party will be introspecting.
