The batsman has actually been ruled out for remaining matches in the India-England ODI series. BCCI made the announcement regarding the ruling out of the right hander a day ahead of the third ODI at the Trent Bridge stadium in Nottingham
The 27 year old picked up a fracture in his middle finger while fielding in the second ODI, which his team won by 133 runs.
Earlier in the same match, Rohit got to a decent start while the top order found it difficult to stay on the pitch. He went on to score a half century for his team, which was his 23rd in the limited over format.
Rohit would also be missing the single T20 match which is to take place after the ongoing ODI series. BCCI has called upon Murali Vijay as the replacement for the right handed opener.
Vijay who had a decent outing in the Test matches will be joining the squad for the remaining matches sooner.
The 30 year old right hander so far has only appeared for the squad in 14 ODI and has failed to deliver a worthy knock in the shorter format, with an average figuring below the 20s.
The India England series 2014 will be broadcast live on Sky Sports (U.K), Star Sports 2, 3, Star Sports HD (India), Fox Sports (Australia).
The live streaming can be watched at the official website of Starsports.com here or HERE.
Murali, who pulled off a ton in the first Test match carried on his form to the team’s Lords victory and fell just short of his second hundred in the series.
The ongoing ODI would provide the ample test for Vijay who failed to repeat the previous in the last three matches of the Test match series.
