August 28, 2014: A small-time model and actress Maithriya Gowda has come with claims that she is married to Union Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda’s son Karthik and has asked the family to accept her as their daughter in law.
Maithreya, the women who has acted in one Kannada films like
“Mourya”, “Nanda” and “Topiwala”, said to the media regarding the same and said her family was looking for a groom, and that’s when she had met Karthik. She also said that the duo got married on June 5 this year.
A report on Zee News says he woman has also claimed that she and Karthik knew each other since May 8, 2014 and had been on talking terms and become good friends. The friendship, according to the women, was converted into marriage later.
The news had huge impact in the Gowda family as Karthik had got engaged with another girl on August 27, 2014 at a special ceremony in Kushalnagar, Kodagu District.
The Railway Minister has expressed his shock over the entire situation and said that he suspected attempts of some kind of conspiracy and blackmail. Meanwhile, his son has also shunned the claims.
Maithriya said to the police that, she was introduced to Karthik by a mutual friend on May 8 and they got involved romantically soon after.
“We went on several dates and he promised to marry me. He was madly in love with me,” said Maithriya.
“We went to his Mangalore residence on June 5 and informally tied the knot with God as our witness,” she added.
“I feel hurt. My life is an open book. I will not lie or cheat public…I am shocked…This kind of blackmail,” the minister said to the media.
On the other hand, Karthik said, There is nothing like that…My father is a respectable man…Why should I spoil it.”
The women has filed a complained in RT Nagar police of Bangalore, accusing the minister’s son of rape and cheating her.
Karthik has been booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 376 (punishment for rape).
