The Xiaomi storm continues in India as the Chinese manufacturer has come up with a new smartphone named Redmi 1S or a stunning price of Rs 5999.
Aimed at the market of below Rs 10,000, Xiaomi launched the phone at a special event in Delhi on August 26, 2014. Present at the event were Global VP Hugo Barra of the brand and India head Manu Jain.
Redmi 1S is expected to take a good response in the market, thanks to the specs and features that’s better than most phones in its range.
The new Xiaomi model comes with a 4.7-inch display with 312 ppi and is powered by 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. Redmi 1S comes with 8MP rear camera with Flash coupled with 1.6MP front camera.
Running on a 2,000aMh battery, the phone has an onboard memory of 8GB, which can be expanded further up to 32 GB.
Redmi 1S will follow the same sale technique as that of Mi3. Xiaomi has tied up with e-retailer Flipkart for sales. Registration opened on August 26, 2014 and will end on the midnight of September 1, 2014. The first sale date is September 2.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S poses huge competition to the much successful Motorola Moto E and recently launched Asus Zenphone 4, both in the same price range. Barring a few features, Xiaomi has outsmarted most features in this range.
Meanwhile, the number of service centers has also been increased. While the exclusive service centers were earlier located in Bangalore and Delhi, the new cities to have Xiaomi service centers are Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, and Gurgaon.
