Emmys 2014: Check Winners List and Photos Gallery

Sherlock, the much talked BBC One drama, has manage to score a hat-trick at the Emmy Awards 2014 in Los Angeles.

But the real winner of the night was drug drama Breaking Bad who scooped five awards and the ceremony’s highest honour — for a second consecutive year.

Best actor and best supporting actor in a mini-series, went to Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Unfortunately none of the two participated at the ceremony. Alongside was Steven Moffat who won with the final episode of Sherlock’s third season.

Bryan Cranston, the star from Breaking Bad, went home with the title of best actor in a drama series. The teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White nailed the prize for the fourth time, beating down the lane other Hollywood stars including Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, the “true detectives”.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan who also witnessed Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn taking prizes for best supporting actor and supporting actress in a drama series, was nothing but stunned.

And happy. He went saying “Holy cow! This is indeed a wonderful time to be working in television. Thank you for this wonderful farewell to our show.”

Julianna Margulies, the lead female role in The Good Wife, went home with the Emmy for best lead actress in a drama series.

She got it for her role as Alicia Florrick, a junior litigator and “complicated” wife of Peter Florrick, a disgraced state’s attorney.

Also leading the way as best actress and best supporting actress in a mini-series, were Oscar winners Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates for their roles in American Horror Story: Coven.

Best comedy series went to Sitcom Modern Family who managed to nail the Emmy for a fifth consecutive year — equaling a record long standing since the 1990s show, Frasier.
