In an effort to refloat its fast-sinking Lincoln luxury division, Ford has created a new executive position for engineering veteran Kumar Galhotra.
Ford is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at its luxury Lincoln brand, in efforts to try and breathe new life into the rather ailing vehicle lineup. Rarely classified in the same league as rival brands’ vehicles populating the same segment, the folks at Ford are fighting tooth and nail to keep the once iconic Lincoln brand from going under altogether.
In a move that will hopefully ring a few changes in a positive respect, Kumar Galhotra has just been announced as the division’s new president. Formerly an executive on Ford’s engineering team, he’ll take up his new position as of September 1. Working directly under CEO Mark Fields, Galhotra’s position is newly-created and reinforces Ford’s clear commitment to refresh and renew its Lincoln lineup.
“These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of the One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress,” said Mark Fields upon the announcement.
“They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company moving forward,”
“Now is the right time for the next chapter in accelerating Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand,” Fields said.
“Kumar has more than 25 years of global product and business experience, including leading engineering for all of our Lincoln vehicles today.”
