The compact sedan segment has become a personal favourite of most of the Indian families. This week Tata has added another entrant to the category of these automobiles- Tata Zest.
The advance booking can be done on the official website of Tata paying a amount of Rs 21,000.
Maruti DZire has been the current market leader in the segment and the Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze have been fighting for dominance ever since, now have another competitor to equal scores with. The Tata Zest will be a strong competitor to all the above brands.
Being compact sedans, one cannot expect them to be extra beautiful or have some unique looks, the designers have somehow added all the necessary features into the defined length of the car which restricts them to worry about its beauty and other assets.
Though the existing sedans do not have a very pleasing look, Honda Amaze is the best designed car whereas Tata Zest has also been designed well with some striking features added to the cars aesthetics.
Tata Zest has also been given some amazing interiors, Hyundai Xcent lags just behind Zest when it comes to the interiors. Amaze and DZire do not have very impressive interiors.
All the four sedans in question are powered with 1.2 litre petrol engines with power ranging from 83 PS to 90 PS. Since Zest is added to the sedan list now, it has some of the most high tech features along with a turbocharged unit engine while the other have a naturally aspirated motor.
The Zest also gives the maximum torque owing to its turbocharged engine. If we talk about fuel efficiency DZire is the most fuel efficient car while Amaze and Xcent are not way behind and have reliable engines too. The Zest is the only one here to get three switchable driving modes.
Hyundai Xcent is the most powerful of the lot, torque figures are almost the same for Zest and Amaze with DZire lags behind with a slight margin. Fuel economy provided by these engines is generally good but a lot depends on a user’s driving style and road conditions too.
The petrol engines of DZire, Amaze and Xcent are mated to 5 speed manual transmissions along with automatic gearboxes. Zest comes with an option of 5-speed AMT gearbox.
If we compare the prices, Hyundai’s Xcent is the cheapest for both the petrol and diesel variants followed by Amaze and DZire. Tata has not yet revealed its pricing structure for the all new Tata Zest.
If we take an overall call, Tata Zest might just be able to underway all the other three sedans. Though the Swift DZire has the maximum sales owing to the excellent after sale services, Honda and Hyundai are not far behind.
Tata Zest seems to be a promising complete package, most of its success will be deemed to the price it is placed at, currently the engineers have tried their level best to create a valuable utility vehicle.
All the sedans are neck to neck with each other and each has something unique to offer the market. It will interesting to see what the Tata Zest does to dominate the market at once.
