A flyer supposedly confirming the release date for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone Air has once again made the suggestion that off-contract prices will be rather on the steep side.
Further evidence has emerged this week to suggest that we’ll be seeing the iPhone 6 right in the middle of September. That’s the good news – the bad being the growing probability of a price most won’t take kindly to.
As for the launch date itself, China’s Sina Weibo once again came through with what’s said to be a leaked flyer confirming that two variants of the iPhone 6 will debut on September 19. It details both the 4.7-inch version and the 5.5-inch version, going against the grain of rumors to date suggesting that the latter wouldn’t make an appearance until late Q4.
Along with the apparent rollout schedule for China, the flyer also lists the price for each of the two devices on an off-contract basis. As suspected, the iPhone 6 starts from a lofty $850 or so given current exchange rates, but those interested in the larger iPhone will be looking at a price more along the lines of $1,010. This to some extent tallies with prior rumors suggesting that both variants of the new iPhone would cost a fair whack more than their prior counterparts, though doesn’t exactly add up to good news for those with less-than endless funds to splash out.
There is one silver lining in the greyness though and it’s this; we’re finding it hard to believe that this particular flyer is anything but a big fat fake. The reason being that the picture of the iPhone 6 and Air used in the promo is pretty much identical to a rather famous mockup that’s being doing the rounds for several months now. And as it’s unlikely that the artist responsible nailed every detail of both devices right at the beginning of the year, it’s unlikely that the iPhones pictured here are in fact the real deal.
So we can therefore only assume that the prices are made up too…fingers crossed on that one!
