Google Nexus 6 Concept Reignites Talk of Fall Launch

A famed concept mockup artist has produced a new image of the long-awaited Nexus 6 Smartphone, which following recent remarks from Google could turn out to be a reality after all.

Google recently put the world out of its misery by confirming that Nexus was neither dead nor buried…it hasn’t even been handed a death sentence. No, Nexus is something Google is still very much ‘invested in’ and will once again bear fruit later in the year.

Reading between the lines, it’s become apparent that the HTC Nexus 9 – aka the Volantis – will be the device we’re all hankering after. However, there’s still a select few that will not give up on the idea of a Nexus 6 Smartphone in the pipeline – also built by HTC and also (apparently) lined up for a 2014 release date.

Toss out a concept image and you’re guaranteed to have the rumor mill eating out of the palm of your hand…Dmitry Svtolov having proven the point quite nicely. Clearly part of the Nexus 6 appreciation society, the famed concept artist has gone ahead and published another mockup of what the Nexus 6 might look like…and it’s a beaut!

Unsurprisingly, the whole thing has a distinct HTC One overtone and it on the whole a fairly aggressive looking piece of kit. As for specs and features, the man himself doesn’t add his two-cents to the mix, but there general consensus is a promising one. Along with an NVIDIA Tegra K1 CPU and 3GB of RAM, the Nexus 6 is tipped to boast a QHD Ultra HD touchscreen, a 13-megapixel camera to the rear and temporarily exclusive rights to Android L – the next build of Google’s market-leading operating system.

As the fate of the device remains unknown it’s largely anyone’s guess as to when we’ll see it. But if we had to hazard a guess at a release date, we’d be more inclined to expect the Nexus 6 around the mid-fall.
