GM has announced the recall of hundreds of thousands of Chrysler vehicles after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began receiving complaints of a potentially faulty ignition switch.
Another day, another bout of GM vehicle recalls to add to its depressingly impressive 2014 tally to date. This time around, the American auto giant confirmed it is to call back almost 700,000 vehicles including Chrysler Town and Country minivans, Dodge Grand Caravans and Dodge Journey SUVs.
As for the cause of the recall, it’s yet another problem relating to the ignition switch which has already seen GM issue recalls totaling 2.6 million vehicles this year so far.
So far, no reports of injuries or dangerous incidents have been attributed to the suspected fault, which in the grand scheme of things is mercifully minor. GM stated that if and when an affected vehicle hits a particularly harsh bump or hole in the ground, there’s a change that the car may accidentally shift out of ‘run’ due to the key slipping.
Complaints received by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration prompted the recall, though again Chrysler has insisted that no injuries or accidents have yet been reported.
